Leaving my thoughts already on day 3 here in Portugal. Happy to be here.
I flew in on Saturday, to Faro, where after arriving I was met with the guys and my coach, brought to the house. Here I was accommodated cheerfully and adapted quickly. Of course, living in a house with young girls and boys is fun!
Honestly, in Belgium I often feel a sense of lonely that I wanted to escape at least for a few days. Well, I planned to spend 10 days in Monte Gordo, Portugal.
Training under the sun, the Atlantic Ocean in 100 meters from home, a bicycle path and a small forest, a simple stadium, a swimming pool and a simple gym that all together allows you to train well and also recover before and after training. And for me, a lover of walks, this place is a paradise. A morning walk on the beach helps me wake up, think on my own, and perk up before my running workouts.
I love it.
As for the food, it’s simple, you could say just like at home. Breakfasts in the form muesli with milk or yogurt, some fruit and how can you not have coffee.
Lunch, I have so exactly, very simple always and in all countries, some slice of bread with cheese, ham and a small amount of salad leaves, and to this a little garnish in the form of stewed vegetables, juice or water with isotonic, which is very good after all the training.
Dinner, already visited one place where and like every place, fish is popular, but I prefer pasta, always and everywhere!
Well, I’ll still try the local cuisine, in the form of dishes in the restaurant or we’ll organize everything ourselves with a group of athletes.
The training camp brings us closer together, gives us the opportunity to train more with runners of different levels, to compete a bit in some ways, to learn a bit more about each other and just have a great time in the sunshine.
